NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Belmont Abbey field hockey team closed the regular season with a road contest at Newberry Friday at Setzler Field.
The Crusaders scored the first goal but the Wolves came away with a 4-1 victory.
Belmont Abbey closes the regular season with an 8-8 overall record and a 7-5 mark in South Atlantic Conference play. Newberry is 10-7 overall, 7-5 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Crusaders were able to strike first thanks to the first goal of the season from Isabella Grasso five minutes into the game.
- Belmont Abbey took three shots in the first 15 minutes of the game, all of them coming on goal.
- Newberry responded with a pair of goals in the second quarter to take a 2-1 advantage into halftime.
- The Wolves added two more goals in the fourth quarter to pull away.
- Chloe Parker finished with three saves for the game.
