CLOVER, S.C. –The Belmont Abbey field hockey team closed out its 2022 season in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament Tuesday at Field Day Park.
 
The Crusaders battled in a close matchup with Lander but it was the Bearcats who came away with a 1-0 victory on a cold, rainy afternoon.
 
Belmont Abbey closes the season at 8-9. Lander improves to 9-7 on the season and advances to the semifinals of the conference tournament.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Meadoe Harrell-Alvarez took the first shot on goal of the game just over a minute into the match.
• Each team took one shot in the first 15 minutes.
• The Bearcats got the lone goal of the game in the final minute of the first half off a penalty corner, one of three in the closing minutes of the half.
• Isabella Grasso took The Abbey's second shot on goal of the game in the third quarter.
• Chloe Parker finished with four saves, including a save on a penalty stroke with 5:30 remaining in the contest.
• Lander finished with an 11-3 advantage in shots.
