PEMBROKE, N.C. – Senior goalkeeper
Lauryn Harding finished with a season-high nine saves for the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team against UNC Pembroke at Lumbee River EMC Stadium.
The contest was a close battle but the Braves scored the lone goal right before halftime to earn a 1-0 win over the Crusaders.
Belmont Abbey is now 5-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in Conference Carolinas. The Braves moved to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Logan Parry took the first two shots of the match for the Crusaders within the first 12 minutes.
- Parry led the team with four shots, three on target.
- Harding made the first save of the match in the 27th minute of the match.
- The Braves got the lone goal off a corner kick in the 44th minute.
- The Crusaders had 14 shots total, including nine on target.
- Goose Andrews and Paige D'Agostin had two shots each for The Abbey.
- Belmont Abbey had won its last four matches on the road prior to Saturday.
UP NEXT
- The Crusaders return home for a pivotal Conference Carolinas match Tuesday, Oct. 11 against Mount Olive at 4:30 p.m. at Alumni Field.
- It is the first of three contests next week. The other two are a home contest against Francis Marion followed by a road match against King Oct. 15.
