COLUMBIA, S.C. --
Nick Berrios broke a nine-year old school record to place third and lead the Crusaders to the title title at the Akiah McMillian Invitational, hosted by Columbia College. The junior from Daphne, Ala., covered the 8K course in 25:37.3, over five seconds better than Tim Gill's mark of 25:42.7 at the 2013 Conference Carolinas Championship, to finish third overall.
With four runners in the top 10, the Crusaders easily outdistanced league rival UNC Pembroke 37 points to 58 for first overall. Donald Kibet of Benedict was the individual winner with a time of 24:25.8.
