Freshmen Deely, Rossacci Help Crusaders Rally Past Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Sydney Rossacci scored a go-ahead goal with just over four minutes left in the game as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team defeated Coker 3-2 in a South Atlantic Conference contest Saturday at the Coker Athletic Field.
 
Cuinn Deely scored her first career goals in the third quarter prior to Rossacci's winner. The victory gave Belmont Abbey its fourth win in the last five contests.
 
The Crusaders improved to 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the conference. The Cobras fall to 5-8, 4-5 in the league.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Crusaders and Cobras were scoreless in the first 15 minutes.
  • Coker went ahead with a goal off a penalty corner midway through the second quarter.
  • Belmont Abbey tied and then went ahead in the third quarter thanks to two goals just 41 seconds apart.
  • Deely scored the first goal off an assist by Isabella Grasso.
  • The second goal came off the stick of Etter and an assist from Jessica Rybicki.
  • Coker pulled even with Delaney Mitchell's second goal with just over three minutes left in the third.
  • The Crusaders earned a pair of penalty corners prior to Rossacci's winner thanks to an assist from Casey Etter.
  • Belmont Abbey finished with seven shots, five on goal.
  • Chloe Parker finished with four saves while Caitlin Struckhoff earned a defensive save.
  • Both teams finished with nine penalty corners.

  • Belmont Abbey returns home for its final two home games of the regular season starting with a contest against Limestone at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
