TOCCOA, Ga. – The Belmont Abbey men's golf team opened its final tournament of the fall season at the Currahee Collegiate Monday at the Currahee Club.
 
The Crusaders currently sit 10th after the first 18 holes with an opening round of 306. The field began the second round but did not complete that round after play was suspended due to darkness.
 
In the first round that was completed, Lee Carew was tied for sixth with an opening round of even par 72. Jack Warren also finished the first round in the 70s with a 74. Jacob Ferrari and Will Locey both shot 80 while Brendan Kelly rounded out the team with an 81.
 
Additionally, Sam Newton shot 77 competing as an individual.
 
Host Anderson leads the tournament with a 284 followed by North Georgia (291) and Lincoln Memorial (293).
 
Anderson's Reece Coleman led the medalists with an opening 67, two shots clear of Lincoln Memorial's Harry Lord (69).
