BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey field hockey team won its second straight South Atlantic Conference contest with a 2-1 victory over Wingate Saturday at Alumni Field.
Sydney Rossacci and
Casey Etter each scored a goal to help lift the Crusaders to the win.
Belmont Abbey moved to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in SAC play. Wingate is 0-12 overall, 0-7 in the league.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took the Crusaders just 1:17 into the game to get on the board thanks to Rossacci's goal. It was the third of the season for the freshman.
- Chloe Parker recorded both of her saves for the game in the first quarter.
- Belmont Abbey took three shots in the first half.
- Etter added her third goal of the season just over three minutes into the second half to give the Abbey a 2-0 lead.
- Wingate added its lone goal on a penalty stroke with just over six minutes remaining in the game.
- Belmont Abbey had an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners.
- The Crusaders finished with a 7-5 advantage in shots, 5-3 with shots on goal.
