Five Reach Double Figures as Crusaders Top Converse

BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey placed five players in double figures and shot a season-high 64.7 percent from the field to cruise past Converse 102-73 in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night at the Wheeler Center. Mario Lacy led all scorers with 24 points, making all 11 of his attempts from the field and both free throws.

The Crusaders, playing their first time in 23 days, improve to 6-6 overall and 4-4 in league play. The Valkyries, in their first season of competition, fall to 5-8, 4-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Quest Aldridge tallied 15 points and five assist, while Chandler Baker added 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds.
  • Bosko Bojovic reached double figures for the second time this season with 12 points, while grabbing five rebounds.
  • Freshman KJ Garrett tallied a season-high 10 points.
  • The Abbey connected on 44 of 68 attempts from the field, both season bests. Converse shot just 37.5 percent from the field.
  • The 102 points were also a high for the year. The total marked the first time topping the century mark since Feb. 25, 2020, a 110-95 victory over Mount Olive.
  • Belmont Abbey held 37-27 advantage on the board.
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, when they travel to Francis Marion for a 4 p.m. contest.
  • The action is a makeup of a contest postponed on Jan. 4
  • Originally, The Abbey was slated to travel to North Greenville, but that game has now been moved to Feb. 2.
