SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Freshman
Jessica Rybicki knocked in a rebound for the game's only goal, lifting Belmont Abbey to a 1-0 victory over Slippery Rock Saturday morning.
The win was the third straight to open the season -- and the second straight shutout -- for The Abbey. It follows a 5-0 victory over Mercyhurst yesterday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rybicki's first career goal came with 2:03 left in the first half after a shot by Andi Weinberg was blocked. She pushed the ball just inside the post.
- The attempt was the only shot of the day for Rybicki.
- Casey Etter and Meadoe Harrell-Alvarez each had two shots on goal. As a team, the Crusaders had 10 overall, eight on goal.
- Chloe Parker made seven saves in pitching her second straight shutout. She has allowed just one goal in three starts.
- Slippery Rock (1-2) also took 10 shots and made seven saves.
- The Crusaders had a decisive 10-2 advantage in penalty corners.
