SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Six different Crusaders posted Conference Carolinas Championship qualifying standards Friday, highlighting Belmont Abbey's participation at the Hub-City Invitational, hosted by Newberry.
The meet served as the regular-season finale for The Abbey with the league championship meet set for April 23-24 at Mount Olive, N.C.
TOP PERFORMERS
- Thomas Thierfelder just missed the school record in the 800, winning the event in a time of 1:55.50. That was just 0.38 seconds off the mark set by Dustin Stewart in 2013.
- Jose Hernandez qualified for the league meet in the 800. He placed fifth in a time of 1:58.70.
- Freshman Abraham Fuentez met the standard for the 200, placing sixth with a time of 22.30.
- A pair of Crusaders turned in top times in the 400 Hurdles. Ryan Kohlhagen placed fourth with a time of 57.24, while Frank Gubler was seventh at 1:00.67.
- Manny Thompson qualified in the javelin with a distance of 42.67 meters (140'-0"). He was fourth in the field.
