Angelina Perrone scored five goals, but the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team lost a 17-12 game at Mount Olive this afternoon. The Crusaders finish their regular season with a 10-3 record, including 7-1 in Conference Carolinas play. Mt. Olive is 11-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Perrone scored the first Abbey goal of the day, eight and a half minutes into the contest. Later in the half, Riley D'Andrea scored a man-down goal to put The Abbey in front 2-1
- Another goal by Perrone at the 3:22 mark tied the game at four, and the Crusaders trailed 7-4 at halftime
- In the second, it was again Perrone scoring first for The Abbey, off a pass from Kylie Eastman
- A man-up goal by Lexi Wright sparked a run of four straight goals by the Crusaders. Eastman tallied a goal and two assists in the span, which pulled BAC to within three, at 13-10
- Eastman scored the final goal of the day, but the Trojans won the contest 17-12
- On the day, Perrone was the Crusaders' leader with five goals
- Eastman scored two goals and handed out four assists. Eastman and Kate Roberts each won five draw controls, tied for the game's high
- Michelle Guppy made 10 saves in goal, her second-highest of the season
