GAFFNEY, S.C. - The #11-ranked Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team closed out its regular season this evening, losing a 13-7 contest at Limestone. The Abbey finishes the regular season with an 8-4 record. #19-ranked Limestone is 9-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sean Hanrahan put the Crusaders on the board first early. Noah Sexton made it a 2-0 lead with about 10 left in the opening quarter
- Nick Deloriers set up Noah Haas for a score and a 3-0 Crusaders lead. Jack Pigott found the back of the net at the 3:05 mark and The Abbey held a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter
- In the second, Hunter Duford and Pigott scored just 33 seconds apart to put The Abbey in front 6-4. Unfortunately, it they were the only two goals the Crusaders could score in the quarter, and the teams were tied at six at halftime
- Austin Hasen scored the lone Abbey goal in the third, off a pass from Haas
- From there, Limestone held on for the 13-7 victory
- Pigott's two goals led The Abbey offensively
- Thomas Sullivan made eight saves in goal and picked up five ground balls

Belmont Abbey will play Thursday, April 22 against the winner of Monday's game between North Greenville and Lees-McRae. The game will take place at North Greenville.
