Tobin, Delisi Score against Limestone

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Sarah Tobin and Lauren Delisi each scored, but Belmont Abbey dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to Limestone Tuesday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas field hockey action. The game was played at Queens' Bessant Field, which is hosting Crusader matches this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Limestone jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 12 minutes, converting two penalty corners.
  • Belmont Abbey converted its own penalty corner at the 11:30 mark of the second quarter, when Tobin found the cage on a pass from Madison Mitchell. Delisi started the play with the initial corner.
  • Just two minutes into the third, The Abbey came within inches of tying the game after Camrynn Aiello was robbed on a spectacular save by Tereza Koprivova, the hit the post with the rebound.
  • Limestone stretched the lead back to two with a rebound goal just 2:05 before the end of the third quarter.
  • The Crusaders clawed back to within one when Delisi popped in a rebound of a Mitchell shot with 5:03 left.
  • Julianna Smith made a career-high seven saves in the loss.
