Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Seven Crusaders Score in 13-8 Win Over Queens

BELMONT, N.C. - Austin Hasen and Luke Spanier each scored three goals to help the #16-ranked Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team to a 13-8 win over #14-ranked Queens this evening.  With the win, The Abbey improves to 2-2 on the season.  The Royals are now 1-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Spanier scored the first Crusader goal midway through the opening quarter, then set Hasen up for a score, and the game was tied at two after the first quarter
  • BAC scored twice in the first five minutes of the second to take a 4-2 lead
  • Queens scored twice in the period, and The Abbey responded with a goal of its own within a minute both times
  • Jack Pigott scored twice in the final two minutes of the quarter, including a man-up goal, to put the Crusaders in front 8-4 at halftime
  • Spanier scored the first goal of the third, off a pass from Jackson Muoio, but the defense was the story in this quarter, as The Abbey did not give up a Queens goal until the 18-second mark.  The Crusaders held a 10-5 advantage heading into the final period
  • Hasen got the scoring started in the fourth, off a pass from Hunter Duford.  Hasen scored again later in the period, and set up Duford for a man-up goal late in the game to cap off the 13-8 victory
  • On the night, Hasen and Spanier each scored three goals and handed out an assist
  • Noah Haas added two goals and an assist.  Bryce Gifford made 14 saves in goal, tying his season-high
