Spanier Tallies 10 Points in Win Over Chowan

BELMONT, N.C. - Luke Spanier finished with 10 points as the Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team rolled past Chowan 22-3 this afternoon.  The victory puts the 12th-ranked Crusaders at 3-2 this season, with a 1-0 conference record.  Chowan is now 1-6 overall, and 0-2 against Conference Carolinas opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Tyler Dalle only needed 45 seconds into the contest to put The Abbey on the board.  Chowan tied the game at one three minutes later, but from there it was all Abbey.  Noah Haas scored two goals in a row, while Nick Deloriers found the back of the net in the closing seconds for a 7-1 Abbey lead at the end of the opening quarter
  • The second was also all Crusaders, with Haas scoring the first goal of the quarter, then assisting Bailey Williams just a couple minutes later
  • Hunter Duford scored two goals in a row, including a man-up goal, to put The Abbey in front 12-1 at the 6:13 mark
  • Later in the period, Spanier assisted on three straight goals, while Jack Pigott found the back of the net in the closing seconds, and The Abbey held a commanding 16-1 lead at halftime
  • Spanier set up Deloriers for a goal to start the third, before Haas scored two goals in a row
  • BAC led 19-2 heading into the final period
  • Riley Arsenault and Nash Martin scored in the fourth to wrap up the 22-3 Abbey win
  • On the day, Spanier's 10 points led the Crusaders.  He also caused a game-high four turnovers
  • Haas led all goal-scorers with six
  • As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot Chowan 57-13.  13 Crusaders scored in the contest
