BELMONT, N.C. --
Lauren Hamilton tallied a career-high 17 kills and hit .382, helping Belmont Abbey rally for a 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-14) victory over Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Tuesday night.
Katie Williams also reached double figures in kills with 16.
The win was the 100th in the Belmont Abbey career of Head Coach
Toni Elyea.
The Crusaders improved to 5-7 overall and 3-6 in league play, while the Warriors remain winless at 0-7, 0-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Abbey hit just .048 in the opening set, but connected at a .296 clip over the next three to finish the contest with a .227 hitting percentage.
- Jenna McCullough also topped .300 with nine kills against one error in 23 tries (.348).
- Paige Rawling dished out 42 assists, while making eight digs and serving a pair of aces.
- Three Crusaders topped double figures in digs, led by Hailey Ryan with 22. Caitlyn Faber and McCullough tallied 15 and 10, respectively.
- The 13 total blocks as a team was a new season high and the most since at least 2011 (when records became available). McCullough had six and Sarah Wilson five.
