BELMONT, N.C. - 13 Crusaders scored as the Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team earned a 17-7 victory over Emmanuel on Senior Day. The win puts BAC at 7-2 on the year, with a 4-0 conference record. Emmanuel is now 3-5 overall, and 1-3 against Conference Carolinas opponents.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Luke Spanier scored just 1:11 into the game, and the Crusaders never looked back from there. He found the back of the net again at the 2:09 mark, while Noah Haas scored as time expired to put Belmont Abbey on top 6-0 when the first quarter ended
- Austin Hasen was the first Crusader to score in the second. Later in the quarter, BAC scored three goals in a minute and a half
- Hunter Duford capped off the scoring in the period, and Belmont Abbey held an 11-1 lead at halftime. The Crusaders outshot the Lions 32-12 in the half
- Noah Haas scored twice in the third, including a man-up goal
- Collin Grippo found the back of the net in the final minute, and BAC led 14-1 heading into the final period
- In the fourth, it was Aaron White scoring in the final minute of play, as The Abbey wrapped up the 17-7 victory
- On the day, Haas led the Crusader scoring with three goals. Duford led the defensive effort with three caused turnovers. Brady Smith won seven of his 12 faceoffs
- As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot Emmanuel 51-29. The Crusaders picked up 48 ground balls to the Lions' 31
