BRISTOL, Tenn. - A goal by
Goose Andrews in the 86th minute proved to be the game winner, as the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team earned a 3-1 win at King this afternoon. The victory puts The Abbey at 2-1-1 on the year. The Tornado are now 1-3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Emily Doty took the first Crusader shot of the day, in the ninth minute. The first half, however, was a defensive battle, with neither team taking more than five shots. King led 1-0 at halftime
- The second half was all Abbey. A Tornado shot in the 51st minute, but wouldn't get another onw until the 86th
- Sydney Hedrick tied the game at one with a goal in the 57th
- In the 86th, Andrews found the back of the net for a late Abbey lead. Gabriela Enciso finished it off with a goal with 12 seconds left, and BAC wrapped up the 3-1 victory
- Lauryn Harding made three saves in goal
- As a unit, Belmont Abbey took eight corner kicks to King's two
