Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Sexton Tallies Six Points as Abbey Defeats Lander

BELMONT, N.C. - Noah Sexton scored five goals and assisted on another as the Belmont Abbey men's lacrosse team earned a 19-7 victory over Lander this evening.  The #12-ranked Abbey improves to 4-2 on the season.  Lander dipped to 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Lander got out to a 4-1 lead early, but from there it was all Abbey.  Tim Palmer scored a goal at the 3:56 mark, then set up Sean Hanrahan for a goal just 30 seconds later.  Noah Haas found the back of the net in the closing seconds, to tie the game at four when the first quarter ended
  • It took Sexton less than a minute into the second to give The Abbey a lead it would not give up the remainder of the contest.  Jack Pigott and Haas scored just six seconds apart form each other, while a score by Luke Spanier off a pass from Nick Deloriers made it 11 straight goals, and a 12-4 lead at halftime, for the Crusaders
  • Defense was the story in the third, as each team scored once
  • In the fourth, Sexton again struck early, finding the back of the net less than a minute into the period
  • In the last 7:07 of the contest, Belmont Abbey scored five straight goals to wrap up the 19-7 win
  • On the night, Sexton was the Crusader leader, with five goals and an assist
  • Jackson Muoio added two goals and two assists.  Caleb Mulcahy won 11 of his 16 faceoffs, and picked up eight ground balls
  • As a team, the Crusaders outshot the Bearcats 47-26
