FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Belmont Abbey baseball team split the doubleheader to split the series with the Emmanuel Lions. The Crusaders move to 12-7 on the year and 11-5 in Conference Carolinas action. Emmanuel is now 7-12 overall and 6-10 in league play.
Game 1
Belmont Abbey 6, Emmanuel 2
- Sean Johnson and Ben Gobbel both collected two hits in the game.
- Matty Bapst and Gobbel each drove in a pair.
- Bapst homered in the sixth inning.
- Alex Sniffin earned his second win of the year pitching four innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five.
- Joe Cooney got the save pitching the last two innings allowing one hit with three strikeouts.
Game Two
Emmanuel 12, Belmont Abbey 5
- Johnson went 3-for-4 in the game.
- Adam Overcash picked up two hits and three RBI.
- Griffin Baker pitched 2.0 innings allowing two runs on three hits.
- Mitchell Keener tossed 2.2 innings, giving up two runs on two hits striking out two.
