BELMONT, N.C. -- Freshman Cameron Young tallied a match-high 19 kills but Lees-McRae rallied for a 3-2 (21-25, 20-25, 25-23, 33-31, 17-15) victory over Belmont Abbey in women's volleyball action Saturday afternoon.

The match between Conference Carolinas rivals did not count in the league standings as the two teams will meet again later this season. It was the Crusaders' season opener, while the Bobcats improve to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Katie Williams and Sarah Wilson also topped double figures in kills with 14 and 11, respectively.
• Paige Rawlins posted a double-double of 46 assists and 32 digs. She also served four aces.
• Hailey Ryan, playing libero for the first time in her career, tallied 39 digs. She also had an ace.
• Belmont Abbey hit .135 as a team, 21 points better than Lees-McRae (.114).
• The Crusaders took the first two sets and had six match points in the fourth set before the Bobcats rallied to force a fifth. The set featured 12 ties and five lead changes.
• In the decider, The Abbey trailed 13-12 before back-to-back aces for another match point. After a timeout, Lees-McRae had consecutive kills for a match point of its own, but it was saved by a kill by Young, tying the score at 15. However, a kill and an attack error ended the match.
• Overall, there were 39 ties and 15 lead changes in the five sets, including nine and six in the finale.

• Belmont Abbey returns to action on Friday when it hosts Emmanuel in another non-conference match between Conference Carolinas teams.
