Katie Williams each reached double figures in kills and
Paige Rawlins posted a double-double, leading Belmont Abbey to a thrilling five-set win over Emmanuel Friday night at the Wheeler Center.
The final score was 11-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-22, 19-17 in a non-conference matchup of Conference Carolinas rivals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Young tallied 15 kills and Williams 11 in the contest.
- Rawlins registered 38 assists and 15 digs for her second double-double in as many outings.
- Trinity Bradley and Hailey Ryan also reached double figures in digs with 15 and 12, respectively.
- Belmont Abbey hit just .096 for the contest, but saved its highest percentage --Â .261 -- for the finale.
- In the deciding fifth set, the Crusaders trailed 12-8, but scored three straight to close the gap. After back-to-back points by the Lions gave them their first match point, The Abbey scored three in a row to pull even at 14-14. After a second match point, The Crusaders scored two in a row for a match point of their own. They saved a third match point down 17-16, then scored the next two points to escape with the win.
- Both teams now stand 1-1 on the season.

- Belmont Abbey returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Barton.
