Alexis Schulz had her first career double-double to lead the Belmont Abbey women's basketball team to a 75-60 win over King this evening. With the victory, the Crusaders improve to 11-2 on the season, including a 7-1 Conference Carolinas mark. The team has now won seven games in a row. King is now 4-4 overall, with a 3-4 Conference Carolinas record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Schulz scored four points early in the game. She scored 11 in the opening quarter, and Belmont Abbey held a 28-12 lead when the period ended
- After a scoring drought early in the second, the Crusaders scored 14 points in the last 4:30 of the quarter. Hannah Roney scored six points in the last minute of the period, including a buzzer beater, to give BAC a 45-26 lead at halftime
- In the third, it was Allie Downing scoring early for the Crusaders. The Abbey held a 59-41 lead heading into the final period
- The Abbey maintained its lead of roughly 20 throughout most of the fourth, and finished off the 75-60 win
- On the night, Schulz was The Abbey's leader, with 11 points and a career-high 11 rebounds
- Downing scored 12 points and grabbed seven boards
