McCoy Ties Career High as Crusaders Top Bobcats

BELMONT, N.C. -- LJ McCoy tied his career high and and Belmont Abbey tied its season best of 11 three-pointers, lifting the Crusaders to a 96-92 victory over Less-McRae in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. Five other players reached double figures as The Abbey finished the regular season 8-0 at home

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • McCoy tallied 21 points, hitting four baskets (three threes) and 10 of 11 free throws. He also grabbed two rebounds and dished out three assists.
  • Quest Aldridge and Sean Halloran scored 17 points apiece, while Chandler Baker and Malik Tucker recorded 12 and 11 points, respectively. Senior Tyler Wilson tied his Belmont Abbey high of 11 points.
  • Aldridge dished out a career-best nine assists, while Halloran had four helpers.
  • Belmont Abbey shot 60.4 percent from the field overall, including a blistering 72.0 percent in the opening period.
  • Eight three-pointers in the first half were more than the Crusaders had made in each of the last 12 games.
