McCoy's 19 Lift Belmont Abbey Past Erskine

DUE WEST, S.C. -- LJ McCoy scored 18 points and Belmont Abbey shot 58.9 percent from the field as the Crusaders posted an 85-80 road win over Erskine in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Thursday night.

With the win, The Abbey (13-4, 11-3) clinch a home game in the quarterfinal round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament early next month.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • McCoy hit six of seven from the field, including five of six three-pointers.
  • Charles Solomon (15), Chandler Baker (10) and Sean Halloran (10) also reached double figures.
  • Malik Tucker was the team's leading rebounder for the second straight game, grabbing seven.
  • BAC held a 38-28 advantage on the boards and committed just 13 turnovers.
  • With the score tied at 71, Lacy had a dunk at the 3:07 mark and Halloran made a layup to start a 9-3 run.
UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey hosts Lees-McRae in the final regular-season home game on Saturday.
  • The contest was originally scheduled for Jan. 28, but was postponed.
