Quest Aldridge led five players in double figures with 18 points and
Charles Solomon posted his fourth career double-double, leading Belmont Abbey to an 87-72 victory in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Wednesday night. The Crusaders scored the first eight points of the contest and never trailed.
The Abbey improves to 10-3 overall and 8-2 in league play, while the Flying Fleet fall to 2-6, 2-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aldridge added eight rebound and six assists to has stat line.
- Chandler Baker tallied 15 points on six of seven shooting , while Malik Tucker added 12 points and eight boards, both career highs.
- Charles Solomon earned his fourth career double-double (second this season) with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
- Sean Halloran chipped in 10 points, marking his eighth 10+-point game in 13 outings.
- Belmont Abbey connected on 50.8 percent from the field overall, including 52.8 percent in the opening period. It was the 13th half this year over 50 percent and led to a 46-35 advantage at the break.
- Each team has 12 turnovers; it was a new season low for BAC.
- After the Crusaders led 46-30 with 1:40 left in the first, Erskine ended the half on an 8-0 run, then opened the second with four straight points to trail by only four, 46-42. But The Abbey scored six in a row and later led by as many as 17 in the final four minutes.
