LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team wrapped up its preseason action with an exhibition contest at Liberty this evening. It was the regular season opener for Liberty, which won the game 89-40.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Liberty opened up the game by scoring eight straight points, before Keyanna Spivey got the Crusaders on the board. The Flames led 31-4 when the first quarter ended
- In the second, the Belmont Abbey defense played strong, allowing just four points over the first four minutes of the period
- The Crusaders ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to make it a 47-16 Liberty lead at halftime
- Jo Snow got the third off with a 3-point shot to make it a 10-0 Abbey run
- Sydni Addison capped off the quarter with a 3-point shot of her own, and the Flames led 71-31 heading into the final period
- Sydni Clawges scored the first six Crusader points of the fourth. At the end, Liberty won 89-40
- Jo Snow was The Abbey's leading scorer, with eight. Her four rebounds were tied for the team's high

Belmont Abbey will begin regular season play on Friday, November 12 at 5 p.m., when it welcomes Tusculum. That game will be part of the SAC-Conference Carolinas Challenge.
