BANNER ELK, N.C. - KB Briones scored an overtime goal to help the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Lees-McRae and a trip to the Conference Carolinas semifinals. The win puts The Abbey at 9-8-1 on the year, while Lees-McRae goes to 11-4-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Crusaders came out shooting early, as Margaret Harris took two shots in the opening 10 minutes
• The defense also played strong, limiting the Bobcats to just five shots in the half. The score remained 0-0 at halftime
• In the second, the Crusaders again took two shots in the opening 10 minutes
• Again, the defensive unit was excellent, giving up just four shots in the period. The teams were also tied at zero after regulation
• Five minutes into the overtime period, Goose Andrews found Briones for a score and a 1-0 win
• Briones and Cassidy Calhoun each took five shots, tied for the game-high
• Lauryn Harding made five saves in goal
