Crusaders Close Weekend Against Lander

BELMONT, N.C. – The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team took on No. 5 Lander in a nonconference game Saturday night at the Wheeler Center. The Crusaders were in a close battle early but it was the Bearcats who came away with a 95-68 victory. Belmont Abbey is now 3-2 on the season while Lander moves to 5-1 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jo Snow finished with a season-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers. She also added four rebounds and three assists.
  • Keyanna Spivey recorded her second double-double of the season, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
  • The first quarter was a back and forth battle that featured eight lead changes. Lander led 18-15 after the first 10 minutes.
  • Alexis Schulz tallied six of her eight rebounds in the first quarter. She finished with eight rebounds to go with her 13 points.
  • The Abbey put together a quick 5-0 run late in the second quarter thanks to a layup by Schulz and 3-pointer by Snow.
  • Brittany Autry had 15 points off the bench for The Abbey, her second straight game finishing in double figures.She made six of her final seven shots of the game.
  • The Crusaders outrebounded the Bearcats 38-29.
  • The Abbey had 15 second chance points compared to nine for Lander.

UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders head on the road for an exhibition against Charleston Southern at 6 p.m. Monday.
  • The Abbey will play its next three games on the road before hosting Emmanuel at 5 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Wheeler Center.
