Abbey Wraps Up Conference Challenge Against Catawba

BELMONT, N.C. -- The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team wrapped up play in the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Challenge against Catawba Saturday at the Wheeler Center. Jo Snow finished as the leading scorer with 15 points for the Crusaders but it was the Indians who came away with a 74-43 victory over the Crusaders. Catawba moves to 2-0 on the season while Belmont Abbey is now 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Snow scored the first points of the game for Belmont Abbey with a 3-pointer at the 6:03 mark of the first quarter.
  • Keyanna Spivey was in double figures scoring for the second straight game, finishing with 12 points to go with six rebounds for Belmont Abbey.
  • Sydni Clawges led the Crusaders with a team-high seven rebounds.
  • Abigail Crain scored the first 10 points of her Crusaders career in the game. She also finished with four rebounds and a blocked shot.
  • Kelli Thomas led the Crusaders with five rebounds in the first half.
  • The Crusaders outrebounded the Indians 22-18 in the first half.
  • The offensive output picked up for the Crusaders in the second half as the team shot 61.5 % from the field in the third quarter.
  • Belmont Abbey closed the third quarter on a 6-0 run and outscored Catawba 16-15 in the third quarter.
  • Belmont Abbey outrebounded Catawba 39-27 for the game.
