Crusaders Take Cobras to Overtime

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Lauren Delisi scored early, but the Belmont Abbey Field Hockey team lost 3-2 in overtime at Coker this afternoon.  The Abbey finishes the regular season at 10-7, 6-6 in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas play earns the No. 3 seed for the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas tournament. The Cobras are complete their 2021 campaign at 5-9, 4-8 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Delisi only needed a little over four minutes to put the Crusaders on the board first
  • In the second, Camrynn Aiello made it a 2-0 Abbey lead.  It was the first season goal for both her and Delisi
  • Coker scored a goal near the end of the period to make it a 2-1 halftime score
  • The third quarter was a defensive battle, as Aiello took the only shot of the period
  • The Cobras scored again in the fourth to force overtime, and scored 3:22 into the overtime period for the 3-2 win
  • Chloe Parker made five saves in goal
UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey will host No. 6 seed Queens on Tuesday, November 2 in the quarterfinals of the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Tournament
  • The match will take place at Field Day Park in Clover, S.C., with a start time of 2 p.m.
