Crusaders Reach 10 Wins with Shutout

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Chloe Parker recorded her seventh shutout of the season and Meadoe Harrell-Alvarez scored her third goal of the season as the Belmont Abbey field hockey team defeated Queens 1-0 in a nonconference game Thursday at Bessant Field. The Crusaders move to 10-6 on the season and reach the double-digit mark in wins for the first time in program history. The Royals are now 7-10.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Crusaders got the offense going with four shots in the first quarter.
  • Harrell-Alvarez got the only goal of the game with 5:59 left before halftime off an assist from Abigail Kane. The goal was set up off of a penalty corner.
  • Casey Etter and Harrell-Alvarez accounted for 14 of the 16 shots taken by Belmont Abbey. Harrell-Alvarez also led the Crusaders with six shots on goal.
  • Parker finished with five saves and now leads the conference in both saves and shutouts. She now has three shutouts in the last four games.
  • Belmont Abbey has won four of its last five games. 

UP NEXT
  • Belmont Abbey closes the regular season at Coker at 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • The Crusaders will await what seed they will be for the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Tournament that begins Nov. 2.
