BELMONT, N.C. --
Caitlyn Faber registered a career-high 19 kills Tuesday afternoon, helping Belmont Abbey to a split of two matches in a tri-match with Barton and Wingate at the Wheeler Center. The Crusaders defeated Barton 3-1 (20-25, 27-25, 25-17, 25-22) in a Conference Carolinas matchup before falling to Wingate 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-10) in the nightcap.
With their fifth straight league win and the split, The Abbey now stands 8-18 overall and 8-6 in conference play. Wingate (17-3) defeated Barton 3-0 in the middle match.
MATCH ONE
- Faber added 10 assists for her fifth double-double of the season. She also tallied eight digs.
- Lauren Hamilton added 11 kills, while Jenna McCullough and Mia Samaha each had nine.
- Hailey Ryan finished with a match-high 20 digs and three aces.
- Paige Rawlins dished out 36 assists.
- The Crusaders captured the third set by scoring the final six -- and 10 of the last 12 -- points.
MATCH TWO
- Faber led the offensive effort with six kills and four assists. She also had a team-best 12 digs.
- Hamilton and McCullough chipped in four kills each.
- Rawlins tallied 11 assists, while Ryan reached double figures in digs with 10.
