Lauren Hamilton and
Cameron Young both topped double figures in kills and Belmont Abbey hit a season-high .324, leading the Crusaders to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-12) victory over Southern Wesleyan in Conference Carolinas women's volleyball action Wednesday night.
With its third straight win, the longest run of the season, The Abbey improves to 6-6 overall and 6-6 in league play. The Warriors fall to 1-14, 0-11.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hamilton connected at a .588 clip with 12 kills and just two errors in 17 attempts. She also had one assist, one digs and one block assist.
- Young tallied 10 kills, four digs and a pair of assists.
- Paige Rawlins led the team in assists with 36, while adding five kills and no errors in 12 chances. She also added seven digs.
- Hailey Ryan spearheaded the defensive effort with a team-best 12 digs.
- Belmont Abbey served 11 aces, led by Mia Samaha with four and Maya Simmons with three. Rawlins also served three aces.
- The Crusaders' previous best for hitting percentage was .277 against Converse in the last outing.
