Andrews Nets Two Goals as Abbey Shuts Out Fleet

BELMONT, N.C. - Goose Andrews scored twice as the Belmont Abbey women's soccer team earned a 4-0 shutout win over Erskine this afternoon.  The victory puts the Crusaders at 2-5-1 on the season, including 2-2-1 in Conference Carolinas play.  Erskine is now 0-7-0, and 0-5-0 against conference opponents.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Abbey came out shooting right from the start, taking the first shot in the first minute of the game
  • In the 14th minute, Cassidy Calhoun scored on a pass from Corrine Shovlain on a corner kick
  • In the 27th minute, Andrews found the back of the net off a pass from Sabrina Whitehouse
  • At halftime, The Abbey led 2-0 and had outshot the Flying Fleet 6-1
  • It took Andrews less than five minutes into the second half to put the Crusaders in front 3-0
  • Grace Siders capped off the scoring with her first career goal in the 70th minute
  • Andrews' three shots on the day led all players
  • The Abbey defensive unit held Erskine to just four shots in the contest
