MORGANTON, N.C. The Belmont Abbey men's golf team got off to a strong start to move into second place following the opening day of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate Monday at Mimosa Hills Golf Club. The Crusaders opened the tournament with team totals of 285 and 282, respectively, and is four shots back of host Lenoir-Rhyne after 36 holes.
Jack Warren led the way for the Crusaders, finishing at 1-under-par overall (70-69–139) and is tied for fourth overall. Teammate Ben Loudermilk is tied for ninth with three others after consecutive rounds of 71. The other three Belmont Abbey golfers competing for the team title,
Jacob Ferrari,
Connor Fahey and
Henry Sparks are all inside the top 20.
