Crusaders Record Fourth Shutout in Last Five Matches

FLORENCE, S.C. The Belmont Abbey women's soccer team kept its strong run of recent play going thanks to a 2-0 victory over Francis Marion in Conference Carolinas play Saturday at Hartzler Field. It was the fourth shutout in the last five matches for the Crusaders. The victory moves The Abbey to 5-6-1 overall and 5-3-1 in conference play. The Patriots are now 2-11-0 on the season and 2-6-0 in Conference Carolinas.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Belmont Abbey got on the board with a goal by Callen Johnson in the eighth minute off a double assist from Logan Parry and Rachel Roche. The Crusaders led 1-0 at halftime.
  • Emily Doty gave The Abbey a 2-0 advantage with her goal in the 65th minute. The goal came off a cross by Morgan Farrar.
  • The goals by Johnson and Doty were the first of the season for both players.
  • Belmont Abbey finished with 15 shots for the match and 10 different players recorded a shot.
  • Lauryn Harding made two saves in the victory.
