BELMONT, N.C. -- Belmont Abbey shot a season-high 64.4 percent from the field and used a pair of 10-0 runs in the second half to run past Barton 83-69 in Conference Carolinas men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Wheeler Center.
Nate Davis was perfect on all six of his shot attempts en route to a season-high 16 points.
The Crusaders improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league play with the sweep of the Bulldogs (0-3, 0-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Chandler Baker and Sean Halloran also reached double figures with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
- Davis' offensive effort including a pair of three-pointers and two successful free throws. He also added five rebounds.
- Similar to last night's victory, the Crusaders trailed early, this time 15-6 at the 13:05 mark. They scored nine of the next 11 points to trail by two, then tied the game four times in the 4:37. A putback by Malik Tucker with 45 seconds left gave each team 38 points at the break.
- The run continued into the second with 10 straight points out of the locker room, then posted another double-digit run to turn a 70-62 advantage into 80-62 with just over two minutes left.
- The Abbey connected on 14 of 19 (73.7 percent) after intermission.
- The Crusaders held a 35-22 rebounding advantage. Mario Lacy posted a team-high seven boards, while adding eight points and blocking three shots.
- Marcus Boykin of Barton led all scorers with 19 points.
