Box Score BELMONT, N.C. - Angelina Perrone scored four goals and the Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team rolled past Barton 23-3 this afternoon. The win puts The Abbey at 5-2 on the season, with a 2-0 Conference Carolinas record. Barton dips to 4-3, and 2-1 in conference play.
How it Happened
- It took Jenna Niedzwiedzki less than a minute into the game to put the Crusaders on the board. From there, the Crusaders did not give up their lead the rest of the game
- Riley D'Andrea scored two goals in a nine-second span to make it a 3-0 Abbey lead. Later in the half, Rebecca Spurgeon and Allison Cline scored within 18 seconds
- Perrone scored her first goal at the 16:20 mark, off a pass from Mackenzie Kaderabek, to make it an 8-1 Abbey lead. She would later score back-to-back goals for the Crusaders, to build a 12-1 lead
- Kylie Eastman closed out the half with a score at the 2:58 mark, and BAC held a commanding 15-1 at halftime. The Crusader defense only gave up eight shots in the period
- Marin Felsoci was the first Crusader to score in the second. Later in the period, Spurgeon and Sarah Ciampa scored just two minutes apart
- Niedzwiedzki scored twice late in the game, and the Crusaders wrapped up the 23-3 victory
- Perrone finished the day with four goals and an assist. Felsoci added three goals and two assists, while also winning six draw controls
- Niedzwiedzki collected a career-high 11 draw controls
- As a unit, Belmont Abbey outshot Barton 42-8 and won 22 draw controls, to the Bulldogs' six
