Box Score WINGATE, N.C. - Freshman Riley D'Andrea scored seven goals, leading the Crusaders to a 20-13 win at Wingate this afternoon. The victory moves The Abbey to 1-2 on the year, while the Bulldogs dip to 1-1.
How it Happened
- Mackenzie Kaderabek only needed 26 seconds into the game to put the Crusaders on top early
- Later in the half, a free position goal by Kylie Eastman tied the game at four. Marin Felsoci won the ensuing faceoff, dashed down field, and dished a pass to D'Andrea for a score
- For a while, the teams battled back and forth, until D'Andrea scored twice in a 2:38 span, to put the Crusaders in front 11-8
- Kaderabek found the back of the net with two minutes left in the period, and The Abbey led 14-8 at halftime. The Crusaders scored the last six goals of the half, while the defense did not give up a Wingate goal in the last 8:10 of the period
- The Crusader surge continued into the second, with Felsoci scoring less than a minute into the half
- Just 34 seconds later, Kaderabek made it a 16-8 Abbey lead
- From there, the Crusader defense kept the Bulldogs out of reach, while Jenna Niedzwiedzki scored twice in the last four minutes to seal the 20-13 win
- On the day, D'Andrea led the Crusaders with seven goals
- Kaderabek finished with five goals and also won four draw controls. Felsoci handed out four assists and won five draw controls
- Freshman Kate Roberts won a game-high seven draw controls, while Marissa Laidley caused a game-high three turnovers
- Elizabeth O'Hagan made eight saves in goal
