BELMONT, N.C. -- DeQuan Abrom scored a team season-high 36 points and 20th-ranked Belmont Abbey shot 59.7 percent from the field, leading the Crusaders to a 94-84 Conference Carolinas men's basketball victory Friday afternoon at the Wheeler Center. Romeao Ferguson earned a double-double with 19 points and a team-best 11 rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ryan Shaffer chipped in a season-high 19 points, hitting five three-pointers.
• Charles Solomon added 12 points, 10 of which came in the opening period.
• Barton held a 39-33 edge in rebounding, but had two more turnovers (17-15).
• The Bulldogs scored the opening basket, but the Crusaders responded with five in a row. Barton had the lead just one other time at 7-5, when The Abbey tallied back-to-back baskets and never trailed again.
