Box Score FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - Marin Felsoci scored four goals and handed out three assists, and the Crusader women's lacrosse team earned a 2012 win at Emmanuel College this afternoon. With the victory, The Abbey improves to 11-3 on the season and 7-1 in conference play. The Lions are now 6-8 overall and 3-4 in Conference Carolinas play.
It only took Rebecca Stromberg 27 seconds into the contest to put The Abbey on the board first on a free position opportunity. Just 13 seconds later, Allison Cline made it 2-0 on a pass from Felsoci. 38 seconds after that, Stromberg scored her second goal of the day on a pass from Cline. Later in the half, Cline put Belmont Abbey in front 6-0 before Emmanuel scored its first goal of the day.
Later, Kylie Eastman scored two goals in a four-minute span, including a free position goal. At the 4:37 mark, Felsoci scored her second goal in a minute and a half on a man-up opportunity. As time expired, Stromberg scored on a pass from Cline to give the Crusaders a 13-5 lead at halftime. The Crusaders outshot the Lions 26-10 in the half.
It only took Stromberg 17 seconds into the second to score the first goal of the period. Later in the half, the Crusaders scored four goals in a span of six minutes, two of which were from Caitlin Cook. With 10:07 left in the game, Mary Alyssa Pearson scored the final Crusader goal of the contest, and The Abbey wrapped up the 20-12 win.
On the day, Felsoci led The Abbey's offensive efforts with four goals and three assists. Stromberg also finished with four goals. Cline tallied three goals and three assists for a total of six points. Eastman contributed with three goals. Defensively, the Crusaders forced 20 Emmanuel turnovers. Belmont Abbey won 23 draw controls to Emmanuel's 10.
Belmont Abbey will welcome #4-ranked Florida Southern College on Friday, April 13 for a 3 p.m. contest.
