Box Score BELMONT, N.C. - Midfielder Marin Felsoci scored four goals against St. Leo University, but the Crusaders lost the contest 19-8. The Abbey dipped to 3-2 on the season, while the Lions moved to 4-0.
The Lions scored in the first minute of the game, but Felsoci tied the game at one off a free position shot. St. Leo scored twice in a span of 49 seconds to increase its lead to 6-1. With 1:12 left in the half, Rebecca Luca put another goal in for The Abbey. The Lions led 9-2 at halftime.
Rebecca Stromberg got the scoring started in the second, just 2:18 into the period, off a pass from Luca. The Lions tallied the next two goals, before a Felsoci score at the 24:01 mark made it an 11-4 game. Luca then set up Kylie Eastman for a score with 22:47 to play, keeping The Abbey within striking distance at 13-5. With just under 12 minutes to play Luca found the back of the net. Just three minutes later, Felsoci scored off a pass from Stromberg, making it a 17-7 game. Felsoci capped off the scoring with 2:19 to play on a free position goal. St. Leo took the contest 19-8.
On the day, Felsoci led The Abbey with four goals. Luca scored two goals and handed out two assists.
Belmont Abbey will begin conference play on Wednesday, March 7 at 4 p.m., when it visits Converse College.
