GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Belmont Abbey placed two runners among the top 15, helping the Crusaders to a sixth-place finish at the Gene Mullin Invitational hosted by Furman on Saturday morning. Georgia won the overall event with host Furman third in the predominantly Conference Carolina field.
Annie Hetzel finished 14th overall by covering the 5k course in 20:25.6, while Hannah Zenker was four seconds behind in 16th place. Julia Otranto was 32nd in 21:33.1, while Savannah Lamb finished 42nd in 23:00.6. Theresa Wilson rounded out the countable scores with a 44th-place finish (23:07.2).
Brette Linkenhoker (48th/23:38.7) and Jillian Culbertson (52nd/24:21.1) served as placeholders for the final standings.
The meet was the last of the regular season for the Crusaders. Next up for Belmont Abbey is the Conference Carolinas Championship, which it hosts in Concord on Friday, Oct. 20.
