The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team won 15-1 over the visiting Erskine Flying Fleet this afternoon.  The win puts the Abbey's record at 9-6 on the season and 5-2 against Conference Carolinas opponents.  Erskine dipped to 0-10 on the year with an 0-8 conference record.

Belmont Abbey scored first as Katelin Glass found the net off a pass from Rebecca Luca at the 26:50 mark.  Just 1:25 later Erin Kunkel scored on a free position shot.  Just 13 seconds after Kunkel's goal Jordan Hofmeister made it a 3-0 game with 25:15 in the half.  After this, the teams traded possessions for a while, until Caitlin Cook set up Madison Eberhardt for a score with 16:08 to go.  It only took 41 seconds for Mackenzie Miller to make it 5-0 Abbey.  Luca scored the next two goals of the game to make it 7-0.  At the 11:00 mark, Erskine scored a free position goal, its lone score of the day, but the Crusaders responded less to two minutes later to go up 8-1.  With 1:35 left in the half, Kunkel scored her second goal of the day and the Crusaders led 10-1 at halftime.

Kunkel started the scoring in the second with a goal just four and a half minutes into the period.  On the next possession, Luca set up Glass for her second goal of the game and a 12-1 Crusader advantage.  A little over nine minutes later, Cook set up Rebecca Stromberg for a score.  Cook would also assist Glass for a goal at the 7:14 mark before scoring the final goal of the game herself off a feed from Stromberg.

On the day, the Crusaders' offense was led by Luca, who scored four goals on six shots on goal, while adding three assists.  Glass and Kunkel each added three goals on very good shooting percentages.  Cook dished out three assists while also scoring a goal.

Defensively, Belmont Abbey was led by Kassie Easter's four caused turnovers.  She also won two draw controls.  Glass, Miller, and Stromberg each won three draw controls.  Glass and Miller also picked up three ground balls each.  Goalie Danielle Ruffalo earned six saves on the day.

Belmont Abbey will play its Senior Day game when it hosts North Greenville on Saturday, April 23 at 12:00PM in a Raise the Red game.
