Women's Lacrosse Wins Fourth-Straight Game With 19-2 Victory At North Greenville

The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team led 13-2 at the half and blanked North Greenville 6-0 in the final 30 minutes as the Crusaders increased their winning streak to four with an easy 19-2 road victory this afternoon.

Belmont Abbey is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in league play, while North Greenville, which is a first year program,  falls to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in Conference Carolinas.

The Crusaders scored 13 first half goals on 19 shots as they opened up a 5-0 lead before North Greenville got on the board with 11 minutes to play. Belmont Abbey then ripped off another five unanswered goal streak to move ahead 10-2. North Greenville broke the string with a goal, but the Crusaders scored the final three goals of the half to carry a 13-2 lead into the break.

Eight different Crusaders scored in the half, with Katy Connery netting three of her four in the opening 30 minutes, with Katelin Glass doing the same.

Belmont Abbey outscored North Greenville 6-0 in the second half, as four different players found the back of the net. MacKenzie Miller and Rebecca Stromberg each scored twice, with Glass and Caitlin Cook adding others.

The Crusaders outshot their hosts 28-9 and won 21 of 23 draw controls. Belmont Abbey also won the ground balls battle 34-12 and converted 30 of 32 clears.

Glass scored four goals on eight shots while Stromberg and Connery added three each. Connery scored three goals on four shots with Stromberg netting three on five shots. Connery and Stromberg tied for the game high with eight ground balls.

Stromberg won 17 draw controls. Reilly Johnson stopped two shots, all in the first half, while Danielle Ruffalo, who tended the goal in the second half, made three saves.
