Belmont Abbey freshman Katelin Glass scored four goals and assisted on three others as nine different players recorded a point as the Crusaders women's lacrosse team moved to 5-0 with a convincing 20-2 victory over Lees-McRae this afternoon at Alumni Field. Belmont Abbey moves to 2-0 in conference play, while Lees-McRae falls to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Today's contest was scheduled to be played in Banner Elk but winter weather forced a venue change to Belmont.

The Crusaders dominated from the start, scoring the game's first six goals in the opening 5:27 to establish the tone early.

The Bobcats Jenah Tracy broke the string with a goal at the 14:02 mark, but the Abbey scored the final three goals of the half to move ahead 9-1 at the break. Six different players found the back of the net on 20 shots.

The second half was no contest, as the Abbey outscored Lees-McRae 11-1, netting 11 goals on 19 shots.

Glass scored her last three goals of the game in the opening seven minutes of the second half, the last of which giving the Abbey a 14-1 lead. The Crusaders scored the first ten goals of the second half and the last came on Alyssa Greco's first career goal, a free position shot with 45 seconds left.

Belmont Abbey outshot Lees-McRae 39-12 as Glass scored four goals on seven shots. She also had three assists, five ground balls and a draw control win. Shanin Darley scored one goal but matched Glass's tally with three assists.

Katy Connery scored three goals with one assist, three draw control wins and four ground balls. MacKenzie Miller, Lauren DiChiara and Megan Patterson all scored twice, while Jordan Hofmeister, Ariel Walker, Darley and Greco all had one score.

Defensively, Gina Colella caused five turnovers and won six ground balls while six other players-Natasha Whitman, DiChiara, Hofmeister, Molly Schaefer, Kassie Easter and Miller-all had one each.

Whitman stopped three shots in the cage, all in the first half. Danielle Ruffalo played the final 30 minutes and made five saves.
