Women's Lacrosse Upended At Queens, 16-9

The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-9 loss at Queens this afternoon at the Queens Sports Complex. The Royals improve to 7-8 overall and 4-1 in Conference Carolinas, while the Abbey slips to 5-7 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Queens outshot the Crusaders 43-24 and won 21 out of 27 draw controls.

Megan Patton led the Abbey with four goals, while Katy Connery added two. Lindsay Connolly, Ariel Walker and Reese Gassie all netted one. Patton and Elyse Mohn both totaled one assist.

Connery and Gina Colella both finished with two draw control wins and Colella's six ground balls led all players. The Crusaders caused nine turnovers as Colella, Molly Schaefer, Adilen Cruz and Lauren DiChiara all finished with two. Connolly had the other.

The Royals led 6-4 at the half and doubled up the Abbey 10-5 in the second half to win by seven. Danielle Ruffalo made 12 saves.
