Four Women's Lacrosse Players Earn All-Conference Honors; Miller Named Freshman of the Year

Belmont Abbey freshman midfielder Mackenzie Miller was named the Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year, and three others were named to the all-conference team. Katy Connery and Lindsay Connolly were named to the first team, while Miller and Meghan McSherry were named to the second team.

Miller is the Abbey's first Freshman of the Year honoree since 2007 as she finished her freshman year with 35 goals and two assists, despite missing the final two games of the regular season. Twelve of her goals came on free position strikes as she also scored a career-best seven goals on two occasions. She scored 16 goals in conference play this year.

Connolly was named to the first team for the second consecutive season after leading the team with 70 points, which is fourth in the league. She has scored 25 goals and assisted on 45 others, which is a single season school record. The 45 assists are second in the league.

Connery, a sophomore, earns the first postseason honor of her career after posting a team-highs in goals (38), ground balls (43) and draw control wins (50). The draw control wins are third in the league, and the ground balls are fourth.

McSherry was selected to the second team for the second-consecutive season from her defender position. She has accumlated 20 ground balls and caused five turnovers.
