Women's Lacrosse Upended At St. Leo In Overtime, 14-12

The Belmont Abbey women's lacrosse team lost at St. Leo by a 14-12 score in overtime this afternoon. Both teams scored six goals each in the first and second halves, but the Lions scored twice in the overtime period to move their record to 2-4. Belmont Abbey drops to 3-3 in the loss.

Lindsay Connolly scored four goals and assisted on two others to lead all players, while Megan Patton added three. Mackenzie Miller and Shannin Darley scored twice and Katy Connery netted one.

The two teams were tied at 12 at the end of regulation as both scored six times in the first and second halves. Trailing 12-10 with 2:23 to go, the Crusaders forced overtime by scoring the final two goals of the half, as Connery cut the lead to 12-11 with an unassisted tallly with 1:33 left, and Connolly tied the game at 12 with 54 seconds left.

Heading into the extra period, however, the Lions scored twice, as Stephanie Marran and Cassie Miller scored the only goals of the period to earn the win.
